NANDITA PURI

Ghungroos beckon her and music adds rhythm to her feet. Nandita Puri, a graduate in psychology & Ancient Indian History, received her initial training in dance for one year at the age of 17 from Guru Shankar Dev Jha.

After his untimely demise she came to Mumbai and learnt in the traditional Guru Shishya Parampara from the renowned danseuse Padmashree Dr Roshan Kumari of the Jaipur Gharana. Ustad Faqir Muhommad Piru Bux , Roshan Kumari’s father, a Tabla and Pakhawaj Maestro trained Nandita in Taal, Lai and Parhant the life blood of all dance forms, thus enhancing the depth & beauty of her presentation.

Nandita's parents inspired her desire to be a dancer. Her Mother Smt PRIMILA PURI, a renowned classical singer often provides vocal support for her recitals.

Nandita has won accolades performing extensively in India & abroad. She won a Govt of India scholarship under scholarship to young workers in different cultural fields in '82/83. She holds the title of NRITYA PRABHAKAR & PRAVEEN from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. Nandita is also a popular TV artiste having done serials like Campus, Sailab, Sanjivani, Kalash, Maika, Chattan, Ashirwad, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Amrut Manthan etc.
